Gerda Lyngaard for Monies (Danish, founded 1970s), circa 1970s. An iconic designer necklace comprising 17 layered strands of green dyed coconut shell cylindrical beads joined to nape of neck with long carved hook form bone closure. Marked to interior of one bone segment with round coin form disc inscribed "Gerda Lynggaard, Monies, Copenhagen". As worn, shortest strand drop approximately 6.5", longest strand drop approximately 10.5". Note: Monies was started in the 1970s by Gerda Lynggaard and her husband Nicolai Monies. Over their 40 year history, Monies has created jewelry for such fashion houses as Donna Karen, Christian Lacroix, and Chanel, as well as running a multi-national brand with boutiques in Paris, Copenhagen, Istanbul, Milan, Rome, Brescia and Lille.
