DIXON & SONS, VICTORIAN SHEFFIELD PLATE TEA URN, C. 1835, H 18", W 10 1/2":Classic urn-form with cover, flanked by handles, hand-chased shell at the body enclosing gothic initial B, floral garlands about, raised on a square base with four ball-form feet. A "key" at the back side of the urn's foot opens to heating element. The cover stamped at the interior with a shield-shape enclosing a lion and unicorn flanking a crown and shield with "James Dixon & Sons, Sheffield" below, stamped "J D & S" and PNS in a shield at the underside of the base.
