French, 19th century. Pair of French Louis XIV style walnut fauteuils or open armchairs, both with tall rectangular back and downswept scrolled and foliate carved arms over a padded seat and raised on scrolled legs united by a shaped stretcher. The whole covered in floral tapestry decorated with winged gryphon and phoenix and secured with stylized nailheads. Height 45.5", width 24" (arm to arm), seat depth 20", seat height 18".
