Kesi Bed Hanging, China, 19th/20th century, woven with butterflies, rocks, and a peony tree intertwined with an orchid tree on a bronze ground, bordered by a kesi band depicting narcissus and butterflies on a forest green ground, the two tassels woven with butterflies, Buddha's hand citrons, and flowers, lg. 76 in. Provenance: From the estate of Richard Young, Van Hornesville, New York. This collection originally belonged to his stepmother, Louise Powis Brown Young, who had amassed the textiles during the first quarter of the 20th century.
