Attributed to Mary Schreyer (German, 19th/20th Century) Landscape with a Figure on Horseback . Stamped "Ad. Schreyer" l.r., estate stamped "...Nachlass Versteigerung Adolf Schreyer" on the reverse. Oil on canvas, 12 3/4 x 23 in., unframed. Condition: Varnish inconsistencies, surface grime. N.B. Mary Schreyer was the wife and former student of the artist Adolf Schreyer (French/German, 1828-1899). Upon Schreyer's death, many of the works sold in his 1922 estate sale by the Frankfurt firm Rudolf Bangel ( Künstlerischer Nachlass Professor Adolf Schreyer ) were in fact by his wife, who painted in the manner of her husband.
