Two Multi-panel Pyeongsaengdo Screens, Korea, 20th century, ink and light color on silk, depicting ceremonial moments in the life of an official, including the birth, advancement to officialdom, promotions to higher ranks, and healthful aging, ten depictions divided into screens of six and four, each painting 14 3/8 x 46 in. Provenance: From a private collection in Leonia, New Jersey, purchased from Brooks McLure (1919-2012), U.S. diplomat to Germany, Austria, Denmark, Egypt, and Korea. Accompanied by certification issued by The Tokyo Art Club on October 14, 1960, and an envelope addressed to McLure in West Germany postmarked on November 14, 1960.
