Quarter-plate Daguerreotype Portrait of a Young Married Couple, the couple with tinted cheeks and gilt highlights, identified on a note in the case inscribed "Andrew Jackson Snow, son of Josephas, grandson of John, and his wife Lucy Jane Burpee, daughter of Ebenezer," in a brown "Tiny Heads in Oval" (Krainik 56) Union case, (minor edge tarnish, dust, and a small spot of corrosion). Note: Andrew Jackson Snow was born in Dublin, New Hampshire, on March 29, 1822. He was the fifth of eight children born to Josephus and Eleanor (Gilchrist) Snow. He married Lucy Jane Burpee on April 8, 1847, and resided in Medway, Massachusetts. His grandfather, John Snow Esq., was a Revolutionary War soldier. An 1880 Westborough, Worcester County, Massachusetts, census states Andrew was working in a straw shop at the age of 58.
