First edition, folio, untrimmed, with deckle edges throughout, in blue paper boards, leather spine, illustrated with a frontispiece, title and other engraved vignettes, and seventy-five full-paged botanical plates, ex libris Lorande Loss Woodruff (1879-1947) Yale professor of biology, with his blind stamps and rubber stamp on some pages, signature on ffep, and an offprint of a monograph on Hill by Woodruff, with five notes and letters in a pocket inside the back cover of the monograph marked "provenance"; binding rubbed, worn and stained, contents good, 19 1/8 x 12 in.
