Russian Icon Depicting the Diesis, 19th century, kovcheg panel showing Christ seated, one hand raised in blessing and the other holding the Gospels, flanked by Mary and John, surrounded by various saints and with monks kneeling before him, all with gilt halos on a gilt ground, with an olive-green border further painted with two figures, 14 1/8 x 12 1/4 in. One wedge to back slighting loose. Back also with some abrasions. Edge of painted surface with some nicks particularly at corners. Upper edge with canvas stuck to surface. Som every minor flakes to gilding. Some rubbing to paint.
