Edmund Charles Tarbell (American, 1862-1938) Study for My Children in the Woods Unsigned, identified on the back of a photo of the work inscribed by Mary Tarbell Schaffer. Oil on canvas, 19 1/8 x 15 in. (48.5 x 38.0 cm), framed. Condition: Lined, minor paint losses, craquelure, surface grime. N.B. This study depicts the artist's daughter Mary at age 14. The finished version of My Children in the Woods , 1911, formerly in the collection of the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston, is now in a private collection. A 4 1/4 x 3 3/8 inch photograph of the work at hand, inscribed on the back by Mary Tarbell Schaffer, accompanies the lot.
