British School, 19th century. "Portrait of A Stately Man", oil on canvas, apparently unsigned. painting depicts an elderly gentleman at waist length with grey hair brushed forward on his head with long sideburns, the man dressed in a fitted black jacket over a simple high collared white shirt. The man's endearing face is characterized by a large bulbous nose set over thin lips and a receding chin, with discerning gray eyes peering out at viewer. Framed approximately 35" x 30", unframed approximately 29 5/8" x 25".
