The Second Hand-drawn Fannie Gray Paper Doll Set, 1853, sheds light on the artist, for inside the lid of the box cover is the inscription: "For Marion Whitney Dall from Grandmamma Dall. This doll, made by Grandmamma's old school mate Mrs. C. D. Murdoch" which is the first time an identity of the artist had been given. For some unknown reason, the spelling was changed to "Fannie" (ie) but otherwise the storyboards are the same as the earlier version. The set includes a blonde head to fit in the five outfits which deptict segments of the story, most of which are similar from the earliest set to the second, except #5, after she was claimed by her uncle, depicts Fannie with a flower garland instead of a fine cloak. All of the outfits are for a doll approximately 5 in. tall; the box measures 6 x 8 in.
