Early Western Hat, 19th century, with gold braid stars around the crown and under the brim, (some insect damage), dia. 16 1/2 in. Provenance: Purchased in Clinton, Massachusetts, from a woman who claimed her grandfather worked in the stables in Clinton. Buffalo Bill, while touring Clinton in the 1880s, gave the hat to him.
