Jean Derval (French, 1925-2010) Vase Glazed ceramic France, c. 1950 Bottle form, the neck in a textural black glaze flaring to shouldered bulbous body, with incised band of repeated geometric motifs in blue/green, purple, black, and white glazes, base signed J Derval, stamped Made in France, some crazing, ht. 14 3/4 in. Note: Before opening his own studio, Derval worked at the Madoura Pottery throwing pieces for Picasso, among other collaborations.
