Joshua Wilder Mahogany Shelf Clock, Hingham, Massachusetts, c. 1815, scroll-top case with reverse-painted tablets, the top signed J. Wilder Hingham. on a stenciled ground, red and gilt spandrels frame the 8-in. painted dish dial with Roman numerals and gold chapter band, the lower tablet with seated child feeding chickens and holding a black hat with matching green border all on gilt flattened ball feet, eight-day time and hour strike movement with recoil escapement, rack and snail strike, two lead weights, and 19 1/2-in. iron rod and brass faced pendulum bob, ht. 35 in.
